Good morning, everyone!
It is my honor to be here to present my lesson today. The lesson I am going to talk about is from Go for it Book 5, Unit 2---I think that mooncakes are delicious!, Section A (1a—1c). It is a speaking and listening class. I will present it from 7 parts: the analysis of teaching material, the analysis of learners, teaching objectives, teaching methods, teaching procedures, blackboard design and reflection.
一、The Analysis of Teaching Material
To begin with, let me introduce analysis of the teaching material.
According to the New English Curriculum Standard, English language learning is carried out by means of topic, and language knowledge and cultural knowledge are acquired by means of learning strategies. Application and innovation based on learning and understanding. It lays stress on the interactions between teachers and students. Therefore, teachers should try to activate students’ own knowledge and encourage them to talk. And the topic of this unit is about some festivals and be able to share a personal reaction on the festivals. It is intended to create a relaxing and happy environment for students to learn and communicate. Through observation, listening, and speaking, students are able to use the objective clause and exclamatory sentences correctly. In other words, learn by doing.
二、The Analysis of Learners
While the teaching material is the premise of teaching, the analysis of learners is also crucial. Students are from Grade 9, they have laid a foundation for a certain amount of listening and speaking skills. Some words about festivals are familiar to them. They can understand some simple languages. Most of them are eager to learn English well, but some of them are afraid to speak out. Some are difficult in understanding objective clause.
三、Teaching Objectives
With the analysis of the teaching material and learners, I set up my teaching objectives as follows:
1. Language ability: Ss are able to talk about festivals by using the words and structures.
2. Cultural awareness: Ss are able to learn the cultures of different festivals. 3. Thinking quality : Ss are able to predict before listening and get some information while listening.
4. Learning ability: Ss are able to make up a dialogue with patterns and situation and act cooperatively by group work.
四、Teaching Methods
In order to achieve these teaching objectives, the teacher in this class will adopt Task-based Teaching Method. What’s more, considering the characteristics of learners, the teacher will also adopt Interactive Approach by using pictures, to simulate the images in students’ minds. Besides, Cooperative Learning Approach is also highly valued in my lesson because some activities require the students to work in pairs or groups to solve the problem .
五、Teaching Procedures
Based on the analysis above, my teaching procedures are systematically divided into 4 steps.
Practice
Brainstorming
Presentation
Lead-in Let’s talk Let’s listen Let’s try
Let's make a dialogue
Production Let’s make a report
Summary & homework
Teaching procedures
Step 1: Presentation---3 mins (1) Brainstorming---1mins
By asking the question “What festivals do you know?” to get the students brainstorm as many festivals as possible which arouse the curiosity about the topic. (2) Lead-in---2mins
By presenting some pictures of Mid-Autumn Festival, and ask Ss a question “What can you do on Mid-Autumn Festival ?”. The Ss try to describe the festival with some words and phrases of activities. In this way ,we can learn some cultures about the festival. Step 2: Practice---20 mins (1) Let’s talk---6 mins
Ss are going to talk about some pictures by answering the questions: 1. Guess what festivals they are. 2. What do people often do during the festival days? 3. What do you like best about ...?
Students are eager to speak out the answer for the points. Then, the teacher gets the students to speak out more exclamatory sentences. Thus, the structures are mechanical practiced.
(2) Let’s listen---6 mins
Before listening, the teacher gets the students familiar with the listening text, read the text first. About advanced training, the teacher asks the students to predict the answers according to the dialogue . Thus, students may learn to predict before listening. Last, try to imitate the listening material, in order to improve the intonation. (3) Let’s try---8 mins
Talk about the pictures of 1a by using the structures: A: What do you like best about the …?
B: I love the ... I think that ...
Ss are motivated to talk about it because those festivals are familiar. Then extend more festivals to practice. Objective clauses are well practiced in this part. This should work in pairs to consolidate. Competitions between groups can motivate most of the students to speak out and work respectively and cooperatively. This step activates what students learned. Step 3: Production---15 mins (1) Let’s make a dialogue---7 mins
Ss should work in pairs to make a dialogue by using the frame. And it’s much easier to make a dialogue by asking some questions about the topic. Then let some students come to the front, and try to act it out. The ability of speaking and application will be improved. (2) Let’s retell---8 mins
Get the students to retell cooperatively according to the dialogue they made before. It can not only consolidate what they learned, but also lays a foundation for the writing. Step 4: Summary & Selective homework---2 min
Summary: From this lesson, we have learnt some new words & phrases, and we can use key structures and in the text.As we can say, from learning, using to inovation.
Homework: Level A: Make a post card of a festival.(group work) Level B: Tell your classmates your favorite festival. Please write down a report.
六、Blackboard Design
Finally, let’s focus on the last aspect, the blackboard design. First, I will write down the title of this unit. And then, I will divide the blackboard into 3 parts. I will put down the target language on the right to make students realize the importance of them and have a deeper memory. And the PPT will hang out in the middle. Some key words and phrases will be present on the left.

3. The teaching aim is clear and teaching activity is clearly planned.
