About 1966 or so, a NASA(美国宇航局)team doing work for the Apollo moon mission(阿波罗登月计划)took the astronauts near Tuba City. There the land of the Navajo Reservation looks very much like the lunar surface. Among all the trucks and large vehicles were two large figures that were dressed in full lunar space suits.
Nearby, a Navajo shepherd (牧羊人) and his son were watching the strange creatures walk about, occasionally being watched over by other NASA workers. The two Navajo people were noticed and approached by the NASA people. Since the shepherd and his son did not know English, they asked the NASA people who the strange creatures were. The NASA people told them that they were just men that were getting ready to go to the moon. The shepherd became very excited and asked if he could send a message to the moon with the astronauts.
The NASA officials thought this was a great idea so they provided a tape recorder. After the man gave them his message, they asked his son to translate. His son would not.
Later, they tried a few more people on the Navajo Reservation to translate and every person they asked would chuckle (偷偷地笑) and then refuse to translate. Finally, with cash in hand someone translated the message, “Watch out for these guys, they have come to take your land!”

Knowing the best way to study will help you to be a better student. By using your time properly, you can do your homework more quickly. Learning to study is not difficult.
The first thing to remember is that you must be willing to learn. It doesn‟t mean that you must always like the subject. It does mean, however, that you must be wil1ing to do whatever is necessary to learn. Try to understand why it is important and how it will help you now and later to do and learn other things. Knowing mathematics facts will be useful in your whole life. Knowing how to spell makes any kind of writing easier. Sometimes the subject that you think is going to be uninteresting will be exciting when you begin to work at it and understand it more clearly. Learning things can be fun if you are willing to work with them.
Here‟s some advice for you: have a certain time each day and a quiet place with good lighting for study, so that you can concentrate on your study without interruptions (中断); have everything ready before you sit down to study, a dictionary, paper, a pen and books; be sure you understand what you should learn before you start; read carefully and pay special attention to the most important things; when memorizing, first find out the main parts and then recite the whole thing; check your homework after you finish it; never forget the importance of review and preview.
Don‟t try to spend a lot of time researching learning methods. There are many students who know many good learning methods but don‟t study well. They forget that the most useful learning method is to study hard.

The time of year a baby is born can shape what profession they will embark on in later life, a new study has suggested. Being born in a certain month appears to indicate the possibility of what job a person will end up with, the study by the Office for National Statistics found.
Researchers have uncovered that the month in which babies are born could also affect everything from intelligence to length of life. A child born in December is more likely to become a dentist while someone whose birthday falls in January will tend to a debt collector, they found. A February birth appears to increase the chances of being an artist while March babies appear to go on to become pilots. Meanwhile, April and May are said to have a fairly even spread of professions, births in the summer months mean a much lower chance of becoming a high-earning football player, doctor or dentist. The study was gained by researchers who analyzed the birth months of people in 19 separate occupations using information from the last census (人口普查), the Daily Mail reported. Although these trends may be difficult to explain, relations between birth months and specific health problems have a scientific basis.
Spring babies are at greater risk of illnesses including schizophrenia, Alzheimer‟s disease, asthma and autism. They may also be less clever than classmates born in other parts of the year. (http://www.ebigear.com/news-115-76605.html)
63. What does the underlined phrase “embark on” refer to? A. land on
B. keep in touch with C. be engaged in D. break from

65. We can learn from the text that______.
A. the month babies are born could only affect his intelligence and length of life B. People born in the summer months are more likely to get highly paid C. Spring babies may have the bigger chance to get ill D. the choice of profession for April and May is very narrow 66. What can be included from the passage?
A. There exist connections between birth date and occupations B. The fate has been already decided when people are born
C. People born in Autumn would be more successful than those born in Spring D. The time of year one is born decides which specific health problems one has
D
“If there is one thing I‟m sure about, it is that in a hundred years from now we will still be reading newspapers. It is not that newspapers are a necessity. Even now some people get most of their news from television or radio. Many buy a paper only on Saturday or Sunday. But for most people reading a newspaper has become a habit passed down from generation to generation.
The nature of what is news may change. What basically makes news is what affects our lives — the big political stories, the news of the wars, earthquakes and other disasters, will continue much the same. I think there will be more news of scientific research, though. It‟s already happening in areas that may directly affect our lives, like genetic(基因) engineering. In the future,
4
I think there will be more reports of scientific explanations of why we feel as we do — as we develop a better understanding of how the brain operates and what our feelings really are.
It‟s quite possible that in the next century newspapers will be transmitted(传送) electronically from Fleet Street and printed out in our own home. In fact, I‟m pretty sure that how it will happen in the future. You will probably be able to choose from a menu, making up your own newspaper by picking out the things you want to read — sports and international news, etc.
I think people have got it wrong when they talk about competition between the different media(媒体).They actually feed off each other. Some people once foresaw that television would kill off newspapers, but that hasn‟t happened. What is read on the printed page lasts longer than pictures on a screen or sound lost in the air. And as for the Internet, it‟s never really pleasant to read something just on a screen.
67. What is the best title for the passage? A. The Best Way to Get News B. The Changes of Media
C. Make Your Own Newspaper D. The Future of Newspaper
68. In the writer‟s opinion, in the future, _______.
A. more big political affairs, wars and disasters will make news B. newspapers will not be printed in publishing houses any longer C. newspapers will report more scientific research D. more and more people will watch TV
69. What will probably be on in the newspaper made by yourself? A. Sports and international news. B. A menu of important news.
C. The most important news. D. What you are interested in.
70. From the passage, we can infer _______.
A. newspapers will win the competition among the different media B. newspapers will stay with us together with other media C. television will take the place of newspaper D. the writer believe some media will die out 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

书面表达: Dear Mr. Chen,
We are so pleased that you are willing to share our views. In the course of the general revision, what we need is solid foundation. So please properly slow down the paces / progress of revision and make sure we have really mastered something. Besides, we need a little more time to think for ourselves. As for those important points which also make us confused (in which we often make mistakes) would you please give us more practice in case we forget? Meanwhile, we need your instructions, for example, how to write well and read fast. In addition, it would be better if you could give us less homework in order that we can do it more efficiently. After all, it is not the quantity that matters but the quality!
By the way, we often feel stressed and discouraged, which has a very bad effect on our study. Therefore, we would appreciate it if you would give us some encouragement from time to time.
